That's gotta be embarrassing
Yesterday, San Jose Magazine came out with a glowing tribute the Cadence Design and it's leader Mike Fister. Today, Cadence announced that Fister has resigned. The WSJ coverage also pointed out that Cadence is lowering guidance prior to the October 22 financials.
Timing is everything.
Lou,
ReplyDeleteI'm having a flashback here. I seem to remember the EXACT same thing happening when Fister took over for the CEO before him. I can't remember who...maybe Jack Harding, but I'm pretty sure that there was a big EE Times article on him the day before he left the company.
Might be a new corollary to being on the cover of Sports Illustrated:-)
Ron, I think you're right. Cadence announced a series of acquisitions and expansions in 1998, even though they were reporting bad numbers (layoffs in November). They won the fight for Quickturn in January 1999 and then he was out by April.
